The theme is: “What’s happening in Libya and why is it important? From Africa’s Richest State Under Gaddafi to Failed State After NATO aggression.”
Our special guest speaker is Mohamed Hasan Ali, specialist in geopolitics and the Arab world who will be joining us from Brussels. Other speakers include Voices of the Libyan Community in Malta, Dr Kathrine Camilleri from the Jesuite Refugee Service, Victor DeGiovanni from the PKM, and Dr Mifsud Bonnici, former Prime Minister of Malta form 1984 to 1987.
Topics which will be covered include: the crisis for refugees and people trafficking, a historical background and understanding of Libya before and after NATO, as well as the relations between Malta and Libya .
This seminar marks our solidarity with the Libyan people, who are facing a crackdown that is directly linked to western imperialist aggression. The humanitarian disaster is such that one third of the Libyan population is in exile today.
